New Vauxhall Astra Electric design

Image
If you don’t like to shout about the fact you drive an EV, the Astra Electric could be the right car for you because it looks exactly the same as its internal combustion-engined stablemate. This means you get the same ‘visor’ front facia with a blanked-off grille flanked by slim LED headlights. The sides also remain unchanged, and you get 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as standard. The only giveaway at the rear is a small ‘e’ badge. Beyond this, it’s once again Astra business as usual with thin LED rear lights and a neat roof spoiler. The new Astra Electric is also available as a Sports Tourer estate model, making it one of the only electric estates on the market if you ignore the MG 5. Once again, this looks exactly the same as the petrol-powered model.

2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato

Image
We first told you about Lamborghini's plans to create a rally-raid-inspired version of the Huracán supercar back in 2019. Four years later, you're looking at the production version. A limited run of 900 of the Huracán Sterrato will be produced for all markets, with deliveries starting next year. It will also be the last variant of the Huracán model line, and the last Lamborghini to be powered by the Italian company's hugely charismatic naturally aspirated V-10 engine. While the finished version looks very close to the original concept, much has been tweaked and tucked in the move to production. The biggest change is the arrival of a high-level central air intake for the engine at the back of the roof, coming as a result of feedback from the engineering team while the prototype was being tested in desert conditions. "It was eating too much dust," Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini's design director, admitted when C/D spoke to him about the car, "or rat

2023 New Honda Civic Type R

Image
The new Honda Civic Type R is now on sale, with prices starting from £46,995. The latest generation of Honda's iconic hot hatch retains front-wheel-drive and a manual gearbox. The same engine from the outgoing Type R has also been carried over, tuned to 325bhp and 420Nm of torque.  The new ‘FL5’ Civic Type R’s unveiling this year neatly coincides with both the 25th anniversary of the Civic Type R and the Civic’s 50th birthday this year. Orders are available to place now with first deliveries expected from January 2023.  In order to extract the extra 9bhp from the engine, there’s a new turbocharger with a compact housing and a revised turbine blade, offering better airflow and thus more power. The 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine is an evolution of the unit found in the old FK8 model.

2022 Tesla Model 3

Image
Most auto manufacturers put their cars through through multi-year cycles, complete with small year-to-year updates. Tesla does it differently; the EV maker prefers to rely on over-the-air (OTA) updates and simply change mechanical parts as they are developed. Because of this unusual method, the nearly six-year-old Model 3 has never received a facelift. But now, according to a report from Reuters, a refreshed Model 3 code-named "Highland" is on the way and is expected to be put into production in the third quarter of next year. The revamped Tesla is part of an attempt by the company to simplify its design and drive production costs down. According to the Reuters report, one focus of the new Model 3 design is to reduce complexity in the interior while maintaining features that Tesla customers care about, such as the center display. Never mind the fact that the interior of the Model 3 looks as barren as that first apartment out of college: it's got a place to sit

New Audi RS 6 and RS 7

Image
More performance is on the way for the Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback - in name and ability. Meet the new RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback ‘performance’ editions, which pile on both additional power and equipment over the cars they’re based on. On sale from early December, priced from £112,650 (RS 6) and £116,305 (RS 7), the performance branded cars use Audi’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, but arrive with an additional 21bhp and 50Nm of torque over the standard RS 6 and 7 models thanks to an increase in maximum boost pressure.  Drive still goes to a quattro all-wheel-drive setup via an eight-speed automatic transmission, but 0-62mph is 0.2 seconds faster, taking a claimed 3.4 seconds with launch control. As standard both cars can achieve a higher top speed too, thanks to a reset of the electronic limiter to 174mph. Drivers taking manual control of the gears should be able to nail shifts thanks to a new blinking shift indicator on the standard 12.3-inch digital cockpit.

The Next Generation Porsche Macan 2022

Image
The all-new generation Porsche Macan will arrive in 2024 and when it does an electric version will sit alongside the traditional gas-powered versions. The Macan EV will borrow its electric powertain from that of the Taycan. However, the electric motors are said to be more efficient yet more powerful. The Macan EV will use two electric motors, therefore, yielding four-wheel drive. Manuaverbility will be enhanced by rear-wheel steering. The standard size of the battery pack is said to be 100kWh, which should amount to 280-320 miles of range. The Macan will also be fully fast-charge enabled. Although we do not yet have performance figures, the Macan EV is speculated to get around 603bhp and 1,000Nm of torque (738lb ft). Straightline speed is sure to be fast, performance EVs have no limts when it comes to the 0-62mph dash. Handling and ride will be typically Porsche, peerless compared to rivals. Indeed the Porsche Taycan’s ride and handling belies the weight burden it carries.

New Honda HR-V Hero 2022

Image
The Honda HR-V, the original, the progenitor sub-compact SUV began life in 1999. And that’s the automotive history lesson over with. Let’s just say one of the most interesting aspects of the Honda HR-V is the name. The initials stand for “Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle”. Now in its third generation the HR-V, compared even to the second-gen, is finally leading the revolution Honda’s marketing team so badly desired.  Good design  is such an important selling point in any industry. For many years, Honda gave the impression that its design values traded the route of a safe conservative approach over a here today gone out fashion tomorrow vehicle design strategy. Not anymore, for the 2022 HR-V it is clear Honda has spent extra time validating their new design language both for the exterior and interior. It’s proportionally (almost) perfect and a great way to introduce a new more modern image. It’s as though the new HR-V is mobilizing Honda into finally saying, enough is enough, we are now

New BMW 3.0 CSL

Image
In 2015, BMW showcased its 3.0 CSL Hommage R concept car, itself a reflection of the legendary 1970s 3.0 CSL “Batmobile,” and now, the German marque has officially unveiled its incredibly limited, ready-to-buy road-going version, the BMW 3.0 CSL. Marking the 50th anniversary of the car it draws inspiration from, BMW will only be making 50 examples of the new 3.0 CSL. Each is given the utmost attention courtesy of BMW’s M division, crowning the car as the most exclusive machine it has ever built. A hand-selected team of 30 workers has been enlisted to develop and oversee the creation of the vehicle, and every single one of the 50 iterations built is subjected to an extensive assembly process that takes up to 10 days. With this in mind, this is no ordinary BMW. Instead, it’s a car with more pedigree and stature than anything that’s ever come from the M skunkworks, possessing all of the characteristics that make this car an homage while also presenting a modernized aesthetic.

Presenting The $1.3 Million Praga Bohema

Image
Praga is a 115-year-old Czech company that typically builds go-karts, race cars, and even airplanes. But now, it’s getting into the track-focused, street-legal supercar business. Introducing the Praga Bohema, a nearly $1.3 million supercar that was teased earlier this month. But today is the real deal, so let’s get cracking. The limited-edition Bohema is powered by the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from the Nissan GT-R, though it’s been modified by UK engineering firm Litchfield who strips it down and converts it to a dry sump that reduces height by 5.5-inches. Doing so enables the engine to sit lower in the vehicle and helps prevent the risks of oil surging under high-speed cornering.
