New Leon FR Model Year 2012

From the photos, at least not all the FR branding inside has gone. Still got the steering wheel. Still feels a bit like a weakening of the brand to me. Can understand where they are coming from though.



For 2011 Barcelona Motor Show, SEAT is presenting for the first an updated version of its LEON in FR guise. A significant number of changes have been made to the FR offer to reinforce the appeal of this popular sporty version of SEAT’s Leon.


Most notably, the Leon FR is now available for the first time with a 1.4 TSI petrol engine which gives buyers looking for performance, responsiveness and frugality the ideal choice. Thanks to its state of the art direct-injection and turbo charging

technology, it produces a lively 92kW (125PS) of power and 200Nm of torque. But, this performance does not come at the expense of economy, with Co2 emissions of just 145g/km on the combined cycle and combined fuel consumption of 6.2l/100km. 


As well as the new 1.4 TSI engine, the petrol line up offer on Leon FR is updated to include the company’s 1.8 TSI engine. Again, direct injection and turbocharging technology are the key to its output of 118kW (160PS) and 250Nm. This engine consumes just 6.6l/100km and emits just 159g/km. The 1.8 TSI is available as both a traditional manual but also equipped with SEAT’s state-of-the-art 7-speed DSG dual
clutch gearbox.

On the diesel engine side, the FR range has been reinforced with the addition of SEAT’s popular 2.0 TDI diesel engine, available with either DSG or manual gearboxes. With outputs of 103kW (140PS) and 320Nm of torque – it’s clear why this version merits the FR badge.

And, as well as a new engine options for the FR range, the car has been visually updated thanks to the addition of LED rear lights – an addition which can also be found on the ultimate model, the Cupra R. For the FR and Cupra R, there are three additional colours: Furia Grey, Speed Blue and Tribu Yelllow.

Updates have also been made to the combined onboard navigation and SEAT Media System. Bluetooth connectivity is now available with voice recognition, allowing even safer usage while driving and audio options have been increased now that the system can play Windows Media Audio files, while navigation updates can be made via SD card.


The FR and Cupra R represent the brand’s excellent sporting credentials. SEAT drew from knowledge gained on the race track, and has imbued both sports models with the spirit of the two-times FIA World Touring Car Champion. From the outside, the Cupra R cuts an impressive figure; while the interior has a look and feel that is one hundred percent motorsport. With 195 kW (265 hp), the Cupra R boasts a 0 to 100
km/h acceleration figure of only 6.2 seconds – not to mention the average fuel consumption of just 8.1 litres. The XDS electronic differential lock improves traction and supports the car’s precision handling in every situation.

2012 Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2 Specs and Review

By doing this the output was boosted from 240 to 260 PS while peak torque has become 240 Nm at 6,000 rpm, meaning the Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2 is 30 percent more potent than the standard model.

Audi S3

The Audi S3 was ahead of its time. While all-wheel drive and turbocharged four-cylinders are common in modern hot hatches, this pocket-rocket arrived in 1999, when they were comparatively rare.
